Race Report - Beursfoon Suzuki round 14 in Lierop, Netherlands
Kevin Strijbos scores a top ten moto finish at the
Grand Prix of Benelux
Amsterdam - Marc de Reuver of the Beursfoon Suzuki Team scored a seventh place in the GP of the Benelux at Lierop. In the pre qualifying session Marc set the ninth fastest time. Teammate Jose Butron, having moved up to the MX1 class for the injured Kevin Strijbos, posted the 24th time.
Marc recovered from a relatively bad start to qualify in 8th position. Jose overcame a crash which dropped him to the back of the field, and finally qualified 25th.
Marc started the first race in third position and moved up to second after a lap. A mistake later in the race cost him some positions, and he dropped to seventh. He lost another position in the final lap to finish the race in 8th. Jose was finding the going hard on the heavy track, and had to fight his way forward from way down in the pack. Unfortunately, he just could not find the rhythm to get into the points, and finished in 25th.
After a good start in race two, Marc rode a steady race to hold onto sixth position. Jose was determined to score some points in the second race, and despite the extremely rough track, he managed to do so with 19th spot in the second heat.
Marc ended the day on seventh overall and Jose on 24th. Marc is seventeenth in the world standings, going into the final GP at Fermo, Italy.
