Race Report - Beursfoon Suzuki round 12 in Loket, Czech Republic

Kevin Strijbos in the top ten at the Grand Prix in the Czech Republic

Amsterdam - Kevin Strijbos from the Beursfoon Suzuki Team finished inside of the top ten at round twelve of the World Championship Series at Loket in the Czech Republic. Strijbos started well in the first moto but crashed after several laps when he was riding in fourth position. Kevin charged back trough the field and still finished the race in sixteenth position. In the second moto he came back from fifteenth position to finish the race in sixth position. With these results he finished ninth overall. Marc de Reuver crashed in the beginning of both motos but fought back and finished in nineteenth position in both motos.

Because it had rained a lot on Friday and on Saturday morning the track was really muddy when the riders entered the track for their free practice session. Because of the bad track conditions the organisation decided to skip the qualifying heats. Instead of a qualifying heat the starting grid for the races on Sunday was decided in a time practice. Kevin felt at home in the muddy circumstances and qualified himself in 3rd position. Marc did well too and set the 13th fastest time in qualifying.

In the first moto Kevin took a good start and came out of the first corner in fifth position. He found his rhythm straight away and worked himself up to fourth position. His charge ended when he crashed. Kevin dropped back to 23rd position and had to come back trough the field. The rider from Wuustwezel passed several riders during the race and finished the race in 16th position. Marc's first moto started with a crash in the first lap. From 37th position he came back trough the field. Marc was riding decent lap times and still managed to finish the race in nineteenth position.

In the second moto Kevin started in fifteenth position. Things went well for the Belgian rider in the beginning of the race and he started to overtake the riders who were riding in front of him. During the race he worked himself up to seventh position and in the closing stages of the race he found the back wheel of the sixth place rider. With a nice pass he took over this position and finished the race in sixth position. Marc de Reuver took a good start but in the first corner he was forced to go wide and this cost him several positions.

Disaster struck the Dutchman again in the first lap. He crashed and had to come back through the field again. Marc gave everything he had and came back to finish in nineteenth position. Kevin finished ninth overall and Marc had to be satisfied with 24th position. After twelve rounds Kevin sits in eleventh position and Marc is in 22nd position.

In the MX2 class the Spaniard Jose Butron managed to score points in both motos. After a bad qualifying practice on Saturday he took a good start in the first moto on Sunday. Inside of the top fifteen he came out of the first lap and managed to held on to this position till the middle of the race.

Then he lost his rhythm and this cost him several positions. Jose kept the pace as high as he could and finished the race in nineteenth place. In the second moto he took a poor start and came out of the first lap in 25th position. It was difficult to overtake on the circuit in Loket and it took him till the middle of the race to work himself back into the points. Jose kept pushing and managed to pass two more riders and finished the race in eighteenth position. Overall he finished in 19th position. In the World Championship Standings he sits in 26th position.

Next weekend the Beursfoon Suzuki Team will participate in Belgian Championship round at Mol.
